About North East Ferret RescueThe rescue has now been running since 2003, and have successfully re-homed many ferrets. They started keeping ferrets in 2001, as pets, and were won over by their mischievous and friendly natures. In true form, ferret maths took over and soon they were being brought ferrets by people who no longer wanted them, knowing they would look after them. In 2003 ourselves and a friend decided to become a rescue to enable us to raise funds and re-home the ferrets that were being brought in. It also enabled us to pay for vets bills to help poorly animals that ended up with us. They have a policy of neutering any ferret brought in, to reduce the numbers of unwanted kits that appear each year. Along with this, they attend many local country shows, give talks to public groups and take every opportunity to educate owners to improve the welfare of their ferrets. They give advice both in person and by email or telephone to concerned owners, although medical issues are always referred to a vet. Contacts for the rescue
