STA Ferret Rescue - Sonning near Reading, Berkshire
Provides a safe haven for ferrets that have been found as strays, dumped, neglected or simply handed over by their owners as they can no longer keep them.
We are a group of experienced ferret enthusiasts who, as well as rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming ferrets from our Ferret Rescue Centre in Sonning, near Reading in Berkshire give up our weekends, bank holidays and evenings providing ferret racing and promoting the welfare of working, domestic and rescued ferrets at various public and corporate events to help raise money for the rescue, which is a self-funded non profit charity.
We are always willing to help and advice any member of the public. Animals that we can accommodate are re-homed as soon as a suitable home is available. Long term foster homes are sought for older animals or animals with disabilities and once these are found the Rescue remains responsible for their ongoing veterinary treatment.
All adults are neutered before they are rehomed, and we ask anyone adopting kits to arrange for them to be neutered once they have matured, as we do not rehome ferrets for breeding.
If you feel you could offer some of our ferrets a forever home, please contact us.
We ask for a donation of £35 for a single ferret (to go with another), £65 for a pair. Kits under 5 months are £20 and £35 for a pair. If a ferret is going to go with another one, we like you to bring your ferret here so we can try them with their new friend so we have a good idea that it’s going to work.
We also like to home-check all new owners before agreeing to rehome any ferrets so as to make sure their new home will be suitable and safe for them (we have provided some useful information on housing and ferret proofing your home to help you make sure you and your ferrets are safe).
